CERTIFICATION WORKSHOP FOR THE DYSPHAGIA DISORDER SURVEY
October 25, 2011

This Certification Workshop will provide the required training for certification in the  use of the Dysphagia Disorders Survey (DDS), the Dysphagia Management Staging Scale (DMSS), the Choking Risk Assessment (CRA) and the Pneumonia Risk Assessment (PRA).  These tools have been standardized specifically on children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from 2 years old through adulthood.  They are quick tests for identifying presence, characteristics and severity of disorder in children and adults and risks for choking and pneumonia in adults and for tracking clinically apparent changes in function.  The tools are used currently in the US, Canada, Australia, Belgium and the Netherlands for assessment, management and research by SLPs and other allied health professionals.  This will be the only ASHA CEU approved training for individual certification to be offered in 2011. (ASHA 0.6 CEU)
